frequently asked questions

Are you able to travel for weddings?

Yes I love to travel!  I mostly capture weddings in Queenstown where I am based but I have travelled throughout the South Island and North Island of New Zealand and also Australia.

All I ask is that my travel expenses are covered which usually includes flights, accommodation and maybe rental car.

How soon should I book you?

Most of my client’s book about 12 months out from their wedding and some really organise folks are even booking me 2 years in advance!  Summer is the busiest season so I would recommend checking availability for these dates to avoid disappointment.  If I am booked I am very happy to recommend you to some wonderfully talented photographers here in Queenstown.

What can we expect to pay for wedding photography?

I offer a number of packages starting from a one hour engagement shoot; an elopement shoot; small wedding coverage; half day wedding coverage and full day wedding coverage.  Prices start from $2000 for a small wedding coverage.  If your wedding is during a week day or is a small wedding, contact me and we can discuss a bespoke package.

Do you shoot with a second shooter?

I find I work better shooting independently. My style is very unobtrusive and relaxed so my hope is to blend in with your guests and capture moments authentically.  I feel I capture these moments and tell the story of your wedding day better through one set of eyes.  For larger weddings I can organise a second shooter no worries.

When is the best time of day for photos?

I love taking photos in the ‘golden hour’.  This is that magical time of day approximately half an hour before the sun goes down when the light is soft and diffused.  Check out my ‘golden hour‘ page for more tips on how to organise your day around the best light.

How long does it take to receive our photos?

I consider post-production as important as the photography.  I hand edit each image with care and consideration in my digital dark room.  I aim to send a link to a private gallery within 4 weeks but this can go up to 8 weeks during the busy wedding season.

Do we receive all of the digital files?

I carefully cull all of the images I capture and curate a set of images that thoughtfully tells the story of your day.  The time I spend shooting determines the amount of digital files you receive which is all outlined in my pricing pdf.  Once the images are processed I will send you a link to your private gallery which you can share with family and friends and everyone can download from this link at both high resolution for printing and low resolution for social media.

Can we meet before or after we book you?

I hope so!  I love to meet my couples either in person or Skype before the big day.  I feel this is really important in forming a connection before your day 🙂

We feel really awkward in front of a camera!

It is my job to make you feel comfortable and relaxed.  Please don’t worry about posing or doing anything that does not feel like ‘you’.  I work from a mostly photojournalistic point of view so I will be capturing you as you are naturally.  By working in an unobtrusive manner my client’s often comment that they forgot that I was there…and because of this they relax and feel ‘in the moment’.

Are you ok with same sex marriages?

Marriage is a commitment made by two people in love and if you love each other that is all that matters to me.  I am so proud of New Zealand’s stance on same-sex marriage.

Should we organise a shot list for you?

If you would like to provide a list of family portraits no worries.  For the rest of the day I will capture the day as a story teller and document the day as it happens naturally.  This is achieved best with no list which means we can all relax and you can be present in each moment.

I would love some recommendations for other wedding vendors, can you help?

I understand that planning a wedding can be quite tricky especially if you are travelling from out of town.  We are a close knit bunch here in Queenstown in the wedding industry and I am really happy to recommend other wedding vendors.

How do we lock in our wedding date with you?

I will send you a booking form and contract which you can sign on-line.  All I require is a $200 deposit with the balance due within one month of your wedding date.  I am also happy for you to pay in a few instalments to spread out the payments.

Which is the best way to contact you?

You can email me directly [email protected] or you can complete my contact form.  If you would like a chat my mobile is 027 357 1733.
