bride groom standing at skippers canyon in golden light on their wedding day in queesntown new zealand

Dawn was recommended to me through another local Queenstown photographer, Jim Pollard Goes Click.  Jim said he had great respect for Dawn as a photographer.  Once I had seen Dawn’s work on our website, I knew that her style was exactly what we were looking for to capture our wedding and I was so pleased when she was available to work with us.  Dawn is fantastic to work with.  She was professional and offered great service throughout the whole process – from when we first met right through to the end photos. I had only met Dawn once briefly before our wedding day, but she felt like an old friend.  She has the ability to make you feel so comfortable and relaxed and welcome and beause of that and her amazing talent we captured some really special moments on our wedding day.  Dawn really added to the atmosphere at our wedding and in the morning, all of our guests commented on how fun and yet professional she was.  I cannot imagine now having another photographer share our wedding with us. Stunning.  We wanted some remote shots that really captured the Central Otago landscape as we love the area.  Dawn captured that perfectly and in a really short space of time that she had to work with.  There are so many “wow” shots of us as a couple framed by the landscape that we love.  Dawn also captured some beautiful shots of our children on their own before the ceremony.  She was able to make them feel relaxed and the photos we have of them are some of my favourites of the day.  Our wedding photos are exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend Dawn.  She is a true professional and I am so glad that she was with us on our wedding day to capture those memories for us. ~Melissa

Moke Lake Wedding Queenstown New Zealand by Dawn Thomson Photography

When we decided to start planning our wedding it Queenstown the first thing I did was start researching photographers in Queenstown, I looked through many, all over there websites, through gallery after gallery and I came across Dawn Thomson Photography what firstly caught my eye was her beautiful profile photo which made me look further after looking through her previous shoots and what style she had I knew she was the one for us. After many emails back and forth, she was helping me more than I could have ever imagined! She gave me so many suggestions for locations and scouted them for me to see if they were appropriate and what we were after and even contacted them to find out more information for me! Once we’d set on a location she helped me find other vendors, who she knows and has previously worked with, they were all the best vendors ever. The day we arrived from Auckland in Queenstown she meet us at Moke Lake and took us for a drive to scout the location, the perfect ceremony spot and other beautiful spots for our photos. She made everything so extremely easy for me, saved me so much stress and worry and helped far beyond expected. She went out of her way to make my day perfect and to ensure all aspects were photographed, throughout the ceremony I had no idea she was even there but obviously from the photographs she was very much! The images have now come back and they amazing to say the least! I couldn’t recommend Dawn enough she is truly one of the kindest woman I have meet and when I persuade many of my friends to get married in Queenstown she will be the first person I call.

Pre-Wedding Session Paradise Trust Glenorchy Queenstown with Dawn Thomson Photography

My husband and I were traveling to New Zealand over the Christmas holiday and decided we really wanted to take some special photographs to help us preserve the memory of our first Christmas as a married couple.  We came across Dawn’s website while doing a google search and fell in love with her work.  We knew right then we wanted her to be our photographer, and we couldn’t have been more right in choosing her.  From the very beginning she was warm and easy to work with.  She was easy to reach and responsive by email, and gave us great suggestions for possible shooting locations as we had never been to Queenstown.  On the day of the shoot she helped us get over our nerves of being in front of the camera, and by the end of the day we were able to forget we were taking pictures.  She even surprised us by taking us to wonderful private farm with views beyond anything we could have ever imagined.  The end result was beyond incredible.  We now have a wonderful collection of photos that not only capture the stunning beauty of New Zealand, but which highlight the love my husband and I share.
