It was such an honour to document Jess + Dean’s Eichardt’s Hotel Penthouse Wedding in Queenstown, New Zealand. Jess and Dean met for the first time at kindergarten, though not in the same class. Years later, they commenced primary school at St Theresa’s in Essendon, the suburb where they both grew up. Many of their six years at primary school were spent in the same classroom as one and other, with school photos documenting this time in their lives. Both have vivid memories of their many encounters in those six years. After attending brother and sister private high schools, Jess and Dean had nothing to do with one and other during those six years, and a good few years after. It wasn’t until Jess and Dean were in their early twenties working at opposite ends of the Essendon area and by chance reconnected, arranged to have a drink mid-week, and here they are some five years later getting married.
Wedding Inspiration
Jess + Dean dreamed of the perfect destination wedding at a classic venue with old world style. They chose Eichardt’s Private Hotel for the classical, warm and comfortable interior and the natural beauty of its surroundings. Eichardt’s Hotel is the perfect mix of old and new, contemporary and nostalgic. A Classic facade with sandstone walls, recycled timbers and a sumptuous interior makes the Eichardt’s experience one of luxury and class. Standing on the rooftop terrace of the Eichardt’s Penthouse suite there are magical views of Lake Wakatipu with snow capped mountains in the distance creating a picture perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding celebration. On the rooftop terrace was were Jess and Dean shared their vows of love and surrounded by the ones they love.
The inspiration for their wedding reception was a warm cigar-lounge look and feel. The Grille Restaurant at Eichardt’s fitted the brief perfectly. The Grille Restaurant shares uninterrupted lake views in Queenstown and oozes class and elegance. With a sleek decor, brown leather loungers and the moodiest of lighting this was an elegant affair.
